The goal of the Neuropsychology Innovation Laboratory (NIL) is to improve assessment through the incorporation of novel technology to redefine how we screen for and diagnose neurocognitive disorders.
Our research aims to improve assessment by:
  • Exploring how people use technology to successfully navigate the world.
  • Creating new measures that consider the role technology plays in daily life.
  • Incorporating technology into assessment tools such as cognitive screeners.

Current Study: Smartphone Application for Measuring Financial Exploitation Vulnerability
For Individuals Aged 60 and Over:
We are recruiting adults 60 years and older to participate in a research study at the University of North Texas. This study is helping develop VESTA (Virtual Economic Simulation and Trust Assessment), a smartphone-based assessment designed to better understand financial decision-making and improve the identification of older adults who may be at risk for financial exploitation or scams.

Participants will complete a brief screening survey to determine eligibility. Those who qualify will be invited to complete a single 4-hour in-person study visit involving questionnaires, cognitive tasks, and an interactive smartphone activity. Participants will receive a $40 gift card for completing the study.

We are recruiting adults ages 18-59 to participate in a research study at the University of North Texas.
